Meet the friendly staff at Ada Hospital for Animals!
Dr. Kate Lam has lived in Rockford for most of her life. Growing up, her family raised English Setters so she spent many a day cleaning kennels and caring for puppies. As such, she has a special place in her heart for working dogs. She feels that dogs are most happy when they have a purpose to serve whether that is agility, hunting, hiking or just hanging with their people.
Dr. Lam earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology as well as her DVM at Michigan State University. She had a taste of the Chicago suburbs with her husband as newlyweds, but returned to her roots to be closer to family. After working in the trenches of Emergency Medicine, she made a change to general practice in order to follow her passion to build more long-lasting relationships with her clients and patients. She has a vested interest in geriatric animals and is always on the hunt to strengthen the human/animal bond through better health of her patient. When Dr. Lam is not at work, you will find her working on home projects with her husband, rooting around in her garden or making memories with her three children. Dr. Lam resides with a spoiled French Bulldog, Murphy, two very entertaining cats, Ferdinand and Harold, and a flock of chickens..
